Mr. Gonzalez-Rua represents individuals in all immigration-related matters including deportation defense before the Immigration Courts both in detained and non-detained cases, applicants for Citizenship, Adjustment of Status, and in acquiring nonimmigrant Visas before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Prior to opening AGR Law, P.A., Mr. Gonzalez-Rua worked as the Immigration Detention Attorney at Catholic Legal Services in Miami, Florida where he represented countless individuals in deportation proceedings at both the detained and non-detained immigration courts of Miami, Florida, as well as in front of USCIS in a variety of cases focusing primarily on individuals with criminal records.
During his time at Catholic Legal Services, Mr. Gonzalez-Rua conducted weekly “Know Your Rights” presentations funded by the Department of Justice’s Executive Office of Immigration Review at Krome Service Processing Center for individuals who were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Based on this invaluable experience gained working at a non-profit on some of the most difficult cases before the courts, Mr. Gonzalez-Rua learned the importance of giving clients an honest and thorough understanding of their cases. Mr. Gonzalez-Rua has taken this philosophy and applied it to his private practice where he prides himself on being completely transparent with clients about their cases.
An alumnus of the Carlos A. Costa Immigration and Human Rights Client at Florida International University’s College of Law and winner of the 2010 Community and Public Service Excellence Award, Mr. Gonzalez-Rua is admitted to practice law in the state of Florida and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
