Douglas Steven Lux obtained his law degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California in 1984 where he was a Judicial Law clerk for the Chief Immigration Judge in the San Francisco Immigration Court assisting the Judge in legal research and in writing legal decisions.
After moving to Miami in 1986 he became a member of the Florida Bar. Before opening his private practice he was the Director of Legal Services for Lutheran Ministries of Florida, a non profit organization helping immigrants in need of legal services. He has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association for over 25 years. For many years he had a popular radio call-in talk show answering immigration questions from the listeners on popular Spanish networks such as RADIO CARACOL and others.
He has over 30 years of legal experience and has successfully represented thousands’s of immigrants winning their cases before the Immigration Court and before the “Immigration Service” which has now been divided into separate agencies which include DHS, USCIS, ICE etc. He has also represented many individuals and companies obtain business and employment visas through company petitions.
He participated along with a group of other lawyers who sued the U.S. government in Federal Court stopping the deportation of thousand’s of Nicaraguan immigrants many of whom eventually obtained lawful permanent residence and U.S. citizenship.
He is highly rated by his peers and has an excellent reputation in the community fighting for the rights of immigrants over the past 30 years.
