Maria Herrera Mellado is a licensed attorney in the U.S. and Spain as well as a French-Spanish certified translator and court interpreter. She holds a B.A., LL.B. and a Ph.D. in Comparative Business Law from the University of Granada (Spain), a Juris Doctor and an LL.M. with concentration in Mining Law and Policy from the University of Arizona, and a Corporate M.B.A. from Florida International University.
She has previously interned at the United Nations (New York, NY) and the European Commission (Brussels, Belgium). Additionally, she has served as a foreign legal advisor for Latin-American governments in the areas on international relations and immigration law. Currently she works as an attorney and business advisor for foreign investors and entrepreneurs in the area of international business transactions, mining law and U.S. policy, criminal and immigration law. She has previously taught courses on comparative business law in Spain, Mexico and Cuba and she is the author of several articles on Financial Consumer Protection and Banking Law in Spain, Portugal and Brazil. She is fluent in English, Spanish and French, and proficient in Portuguese.
