As a Founding Partner of Abeckjerr + Cohen Law Group, PLLC, Michelle’s practice is centered around business immigration. Michelle has extensive experience representing individuals, families, employers, and investors for both immigrant and non-immigrant visa applications.
Michelle has managed and prepared employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions, specifically PERM, H1B, H3, L, and EB1C for Multinational Executives and Managers; investment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions, including E1, E2, and EB5; and extraordinary ability nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions, including O, P, and EB1 for Aliens of Extraordinary Ability for musicians, actors, entertainers, researchers, doctors, professors, business executives, and professional athletes.
Michelle graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. During her time there, she was a clinical legal extern for the university’s Immigration Clinic, advocating on behalf of immigrants in a wide variety of complex immigration proceedings. Michelle represented several clients in removal proceedings, with cases involving Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, and Special Immigrant Juveniles Status. Michelle also worked as a legal intern for the non-profit law firm, Americans for Immigrant Justice, where she dedicated her work to serving immigration detainees in obtaining release and fighting deportation.
During law school, she was the President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association – University of Miami School of Law Chapter + President of the Cardozo Legal Society.
