Melissa R. Contreras was born and raised in southern Puerto Rico. From a young age she was passionate about the law and defending noble causes. She is a member of the AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association)
In 2003, she lived in Arizona, near the border with Mexico, where she found her passion and vocation for the immigrant community. In an interview at the program Total Access on Telemundo 51, she recalled her experience: “To see so many Latinos crossing the Arizona border and the conditions they had to experience to survive the misery of their countries impacted me. It led me to make the decision to study law so I can defend and assist immigrants from around the world. This experience was the main reason that led me to become a prominent immigration lawyer that I am today. My immigrants were, are and will be my motivation.”
During her years of study at the Faculty of Law, Melissa Rivera, graduated with honors and was honored with the Suma Cum Laude prize. She was admitted by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, with the highest score on the exam Revalidation, which truly defines her great dedication, commitment and passion for everything she does including her career.
The Attorney Rivera-Contreras had the opportunity to work with a prominent immigration firm in the Miami area where she had the opportunity to appear and defend the rights of immigrants in various immigration courts around the US, including the states of : Texas, New York, California and cities like Chicago, Seattle and Vegas.
Her experience in the field of immigration also includes the labor field with a broad and extensive experience with everything related to visas for investors, workers, students and religious.
Currently, the lawyer Melissa Rivera maintains her immigration practice in South Miami, which is dedicated to provide excellent individualized attention to every client.
